Dendromonas  F. Stein  1878; 2 of 3 species descriptions are now accepted taxonomically (Guiry 2013).

Order Chromulinales; Family Chromulinaceae or Ochromonadaceae

 

Morphology:

Colonies of heterokont (unequal flagella) cells at the termini of unbranched mucilaginous stalks. Nutrition by phagocytosis.

 

Similar genera:

Habitat:

Freshwater, global distribution; one species in brackish ponds near Black Sea (Guiry 2013).
